Troubles: - on startup, the Acer logo background(the white part) is tinted red, but quickly fades after a second or so, and, or - display has been flickering slightly, but the picture doesn't go completely away, it just flickers finally the screen completely blacked out, but the computer was still running Look closely and if you can see the display you have a chance. 
The solution: Your backlight is dying or dead. You can replace either the backlight itself or the entire screen assembly. While the backlight on its own is much cheaper than an entire LCD panel/assembly, it is significantly more finicky to install(but you can find many how to that will guide you on the net). Furthermore, Acer provides service manuals where you can maybe found this operation.

Hello everyone,
I was hoping someone could help me. I recently purchase Aspire 5315 from TigerDirect and it did not come with recovery CDs. I tried to downgrade my Vista to XP because I was having so much problem with performance.
When downgrading to XP, I left the PQService partition but formatted partition C and D to install XP. My Problem is I obtain the XP CD with activation key from my college as part of my tuition. So I didn't think there will be a problem. When I tried to active XP I am getting an error that it is invaild product key. I called MS to register over the phone but they were of no help.
Now, I want to roll my OS bck to Vista. I thought that ALT+F10 would work since I left the PQService partition but it is not working.
Can someone PLEASE help me.
