hi all

i have just purchased a new toshiba laptop unfornatly it came with vista i need to put xp on it as i live in zimbabwe and vista is not compatable with most of the pc's here so i need to load xp but the laptop will not allow me to install any other operating system it tells me that either no hard drive is present or it is running a disk utility my question is this how to i bypass or disable this unility

i have tried formating the machine using the recovery cd but still no joy

Hi john first make a back up of your recovery partition, second search before on the net if all the drivers of your unit are available with xp, after that you can freely use a partition manager to arange your hard disk as you like it format it and install XP.
